104: Vision and Driving

This course aims to improve attendees understanding of the complex relationship among vision and driving. The licensure standards in Ohio will be reviewed, as well as a brief explanation of the bioptic driving program. We will discuss some of the published literature on the impact of eye disease and vision loss on driving, including key findings related to glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, and cataracts. Patient cases will be presented to enhance understanding and encourage critical thinking about the nuanced challenges in assessing driving safety and legality, as well as to discuss strategies for patient interviewing and evaluation.
