OCTOBER 7-10, 2010 | CLEVELAND CONVENTION CENTER
Call for Abstracts
Chair: Robert D. Newcomb, OD, MPH, OSU College of Optometry
Optometry students, residents, clinicians, educators, and researchers are all cordially invited to participate in the 2010 EastWest Eye Conference Poster Session. The theme for this year is "Look In, Look Out, Look All About". The title was chosen to emphasize the value of examining the human eye and visual system by using a wide variety of clinical tests and procedures (ie, vision tests, ocular health assessments, laboratory reports, radiology consultations, etc). The purpose of the poster session is to share challenging differential diagnoses and complex management options with professional colleagues.
Posters should be designed so the reader will not discover the correct diagnosis and management plan until after he or she has studied the case presentation and results of all testing and procedures. Then, and only then, will the correct differential diagnosis be revealed by the poster's author(s).
Poster presenters will receive complimentary registration and two hours of CE.
The Submission Process
The first step is to submit an abstract before the deadline, which is August 6, 2010. If accepted, presenters will be notified by August 13, 2010.
Abstracts should be submitted electronically to RNewcomb@optometry.osu.edu. (Specify 2010 EastWest Poster in the subject line.)

Guidelines for Preparing Clinical Posters
Please follow these guidelines carefully to have your poster submission considered for presentation at the 2010 EastWest Eye Conference.
Each case will be presented on one 4' by 8' horizontal corkboard. The presenter will be responsible for setting up the poster by 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 8. Please bring enough tacks to hang your poster. Posters can either be individual panels mounted on heavy poster board or large roll-up heavy poster paper (laminated is acceptable). Posters consisting of unmounted 8.5"x11" separate papers are not allowed.
The title (in the form of a question), name of presenter(s), and affiliated institution(s) should be at the top of the poster. Text in the S-O-A-P format, results of testing, figures, graphs, photographs, fluorescein angiography, visual fields, amsler grids, lab and radiology reports, etc, and discussion/literature review should all be displayed in a logical and self-explanatory manner. A place for comments or handouts can also be incorporated in the poster's design. Bulleted lists are easier for the reader to navigate than lengthy paragraphs.
NOTE: A residency director, faculty member, or previous poster presenter is a valuable resource in preparing an educational poster.
Posters will be on display from 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 8, until 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 9. The presenter must be available to discuss the poster Saturday, October 9, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
Posters must be removed from the convention center by 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 9.
